The trend of wrist tattoos is not new. It has been used for centuries ago by kings and others. Having a tattoo is becoming more socially acceptable and the demand in recent years has risen exceptionally. Many sea going people have also believed on wrist tattoos especially for star designs to act as their guide and keep them safe until they arrive at their destination.

In the modern times, getting wrist tattoos is considerably safe as long as tattoo shops follow the accepted tattooing procedure. The following should be observed when you are having a wrist tattoo or any tattoo done.

o The work place of a tattooist should be clean and hygienic.

o Before embedding the tattoo, the professional should clean the wrist of the client with antiseptic lotion and remove all the hair on the wrist.

o Wrist tattoos should be made with proper care as it is a very sensitive area due to the fact that there is not enough soft fat tissue and a lot of attention is needed.

o The equipment (Inking gun) that is used should be sterilized and the needle used should be new in order not to let any viruses or harmful bacteria to get into your body.

The important thing to remember about wrist tattoos is that they are permanent and you need to be sure of what you are doing. It is not something that you can easily undo. Bare in mind that if you are not an experienced tattoo maker the pain inflicted on the wrist is more than any other part of the body and the healing process for wrist tattoos is longer. The result and satisfaction after it is done is of course another thing.

In recent years, tattoos have become more and more popular among women and it is no longer seen as just a masculine pursuit. A very popular choice for women is ankle and wrist tattoos more than men and their favorite style is the bracelet that can replace a real one or act as baground to a bracelet.

The wrist is a part of your body that is both visible and tasteful. It’s also considered to be very feminine. While the location works for both men and women, it is especially suited to accentuate the female body in a way that a tattoo on the arm or back body might not.

Wrist Tattoos of celebrities have become increasingly popular as an inspiration. Many celebrities are sporting wrist tattoos including Jessica Alba, Brittany Spears and Nicole Ritchie and a lot more to mention.

If you are not into emulating celebrities and want something totally original, there are a few things you could consider. The size of the wrist means that anything too complicated should be ruled out. A very common mistake with wrist tattoos is that people try to fit too much and they become messy. Choose correctly, a simple word or one symbol can say a lot more than a massive picture. Having a small tattoo is easier to cover with a bracelet or a wristwatch if the need arises.

The most common tattoo is an inner wrist tattoo. That is easier to hide than any other design on the wrist, yet still very visible when you want it to be. Also popular is a wristband or bracelet style that encircles the wrist as a chain which often includes links of Celtic symbols or flowers.

Popular designs for women include stars, kanji, hearts and text. Because of their visibility, it is common for people to choose something original that makes a strong but silent statement about their personality. Many people who decide to get tattoos on both wrists combine their designs so they are either very similar or the exact opposite.

As a final word, the person who decides to have a permanent tattoo done should be very comfortable with the entire process starting with the idea of having something for the rest of his or her life all the way down to the embedding (inking) as some researches done suggest that 35% of people that had a tattoo regretted it on the long run. The right design and artist will probably make you love your tattoo and not regret it. So choose your design very carefully before any decision is done and before taking it to the artist (parlor).

5 Funny Moving Stories

OK, so you are about to move. Did your research on movers. Found a moving company with decent pricing, somewhat decent reviews and bearable BBB rating. Packed most of your stuff. Moving day is coming. Excited?

You might as well be, because you never know what’s waiting for you on the move day!

Some of the funniest stories I’ve heard during my extensive moving business career:

  1. Knock knock! You open the door. Your movers have arrived. Except, they are an exceptional crew consisting of a 65 year old man, an illegal immigrant who doesn’t speak any English as was randomly picked up at a random gas station, and a waitress from your local Waffle House. They all admit this is going to be the first move in their lives. Except the older gentleman who claims to be the crew leader. He believes in himself and his team. This has happened to one of our customers several years ago. He called Milestone Relocation immediately after kicking out (literally) his moving crew down the stairs.
  2. You are moving today. Your movers are unreachable, and obviously they are not here. You move by yourself or hire someone else. Two days later, your movers, the ones that never showed up, call you and tell you that they are going to be a little late because they have a flat tire. Sounds funny? It’s a true story!
  3. Your movers show up on time. Do an extremely good job. One item is left on the truck: your grandma’s ancient clock. A 200 pound clock, which is basically all that has left for her to remember your granddad who passed away several years ago. The move went well, you and your family, including your grandma, are watching how your movers are getting ready to unload the clock off the truck. For the 97th time, you remind your movers to be extremely careful. They nod their heads confirming understanding the importance of this. One of them even says, “Don’t worry, we are professionals!” Your grandma is watching in relieve: after all, the movers did a great job, and they can’t mess up the only item which is left. On the “Don’t worry” words, your grandma almost falls down on her butt: she can’t believe movers are screaming, the clock is falling from 4 feet high, and the ancient glass is all over the place!
  4. “I understand my company charged you more than 3 times above their estimate and refused to unload your items before you pay the full balance in cash. It’s nice you are so understanding. But we work on tip, and if don’t get tipped right now, we will not unload your belongings no matter what the company says.”
  5. “I just came back from jail. I did my 8 year sentence for beating up my wife. Do you really think I care when you threaten me saying you will call the police because I am not unloading your stuff before you tip me?”

These stories are funny until they happen to you. Do not be negligent. Protect yourself by choosing a moving company carefully. Do you research. Google it. Read reviews. Make sure they are licensed. And then, when you help yourself, God will help you too.

Happy moving!

Problems With Healing Tattoos

Go ahead and check us out here:
Tattoo Designs We are an amazing tattoo shop here in Colorado Springs providing you with Best Quality in Design & service. Check us out today!

Signs of Normal Healing

At first the tattoo looks shiny, swollen and the colors are extra bright. Within 24 hours the scab forms, this should be very thin, looks like the tattoo and with proper care is slightly flexible.

After about 4-5 days the tattoo will go through a period of peeling. This looks similar to a sunburn peeling. The scab that peels off will be the color of the tattoo, and it will look like your tattoo is flaking off. Sometimes this stage is accompanied by mild itching which can be relieved by rubbing it gently with more ointment or lotion.

Do not ever leave your tattoo slick or sticky.

Always blot off any extra ointment or lotion.

When the tattoo is completely done pealing you will notice a layer underneath the new tattoo that contains healing skin cells that will cause the skin to seem milky rather than transparent. Don’t worry about this; it’s all part of the healing process and only takes about a month to go away. If you want, you can put lotion on the tattoo to help it look brighter and more healed during this final stage of healing.

Symptoms of Bad Healing

When healing goes wrong there are very few things that can happen. Some of the signs that things are going wrong are; extreme seeping, heavy scabbing, excessive inflammation, and sometimes a rash (little bumps) or pimples.

Often when things go wrong people assume that the tattoo is infected. Unless you work or live in a very dirty environment (see below) it probably isn’t. You should always show the tattoo to your artists before heading for the doctors’ office.

Most doctors know nothing about tattoo after care and some of them are prejudice against tattoos. They often time prescribe unnecessary drugs and treatment that can make the healing even worse.

A professional tattoo artist has been trained in healing correction. They know what infected tattoos look like and will only send you to a doctor when necessary. Seeing the right person can save you time and money, not to mention the finished look of your tattoo.

Aftercare Mistakes

Neglect –

If you don’t practice good personal hygiene, pick your tattoo, wear tight clothing or let clothing stick to it, scrub the tattoo, or take too long or are not careful in the shower, your tattoo will not look nice when it is finished healing. It can have ink missing and sometimes heavy scar tissue over it.

Always follow the care instructions. If you feel like you don’t understand them, please call and ask for help. Though we can not correct healing issues without actually seeing the tattoo, we are happy to teach you more about our healing instructions.

We’d rather spend a few extra minutes helping you to have a good healing than to have to try to fix up a tattoo healing gone wrong.

Your Health –

If you have any immunity deficiencies, blood disorders such as diabetes, or are on certain medications such as steroids or blood thinners your tattoo could be affected. It could take longer to heal and not turn out very well.

It is a good idea to consult your doctor before getting a tattoo if you suspect there may be a problem. It is a good idea to inform your artist of any health issues so they can tailor the healing to meet your needs.

Damaged Skin –

Long term cigarette smoking, drinking too many soft drinks, eating poorly, and over exposure to the sun damages skin. A tattoo on damaged skin will rarely look as good as one on healthy skin.

Sometimes the colors and lines aren’t as bright or clear as they would have been and the artists can not do anything about it. If you have damaged skin you will have to keep your expectations reasonable. Sometimes if the skin is damaged the artist will want to do the tattoo in stages as avoid overworking* it and to hopefully make the healing process easier on you.

If your skin is older, thin, weak, or sun damaged it can also be harder to heal. However, with a little patience and care the tattoo can heal out fine. So be sure to follow the directions carefully and for the full length of time, which can be longer than healthy skin

(*When the skin is damaged it is very easy for the artist to accidentally overwork the tattoo. Doing this it can also cause the scabbing to be thicker. If this happens it isn’t the end of the world. Just be patient and when the tattoo is completely healed your artist will want to touch it up for you.)

Sun Exposure –

The sun is your tattoos worst enemy, if you expose your healing tattoo to the sun it can fade the ink before it is even healed. Tattoos that are exposed to the sun too soon look faded, blurry, washed out and much older than they should. Under no circumstances expose your healing tattoo to prolonged direct sunlight or tanning.

Even a healed tattoo, with time, will fade when exposed to the sun or tanning beds. If you must expose your healed tattoo to those evil UV rays are sure to use a high SPF sun block (at least 45)

Allergic Reactions to Latex –

If you are allergic to latex you will more than likely know before you get your tattoo. Let the artist know so they can accommodate you. The signs of an allergic reaction to latex are extreme rash/redness in the case of latex (from gloves worn by the artist) we can use non-latex gloves and tape on you.

Allergies to Tattoo Ink –

Allergic reactions to tattoo ink are very, very, rare but unfortunately possible. Most professional tattoo pigments are made out of natural ingredients that shouldn’t cause a problem. They have been proven by their use successfully in the tattoo industry for many years.

Most people don’t have any idea they are allergic to certain colors of ink until after the tattoo has been applied. However we have noticed that people who are allergic to metals and have reactions to cheep jewelry often do react. At our shops, we have only seen reactions with one particular red which we rarely use.

If you are allergic to a pigment it will be evident by just that particular color bubbling and raising off of your skin. It looks like a blister or a raised red mole. It will itch and not look completely healed no matter how long it has been.

You have two choices. One is to remove the offending color or to use hydrocortisone cream to control the itching and promote healing which can take up to 5 years. Removal is not any more painful than the tattoo process and after it heals another color can be used to finish the tattoo.

If you are concerned about having a reaction to tattoo ink ask your artist about doing a “prick test” where a small dot of each color to be used in your potential artwork is tattooed under your skin at least 10 days before your tattoo. This will cost you extra money, but if you have a lot of allergies sometimes it is better to be safe than sorry.

Exposures to Toxins or Bacteria –

If you work/live in an environment with dirt and filth you run the risk of infection. Emergency rooms, nursing homes, hospitals, being around animals & their waste, toxic chemicals, and filth of all kinds can cause serious infections.

It is nearly impossible to get an infection in a professionally applied tattoo. Tattoo shops are required to use more safety precautions than hospitals, doctors, and dentists do. Most shops are inspected regularly by the local health department and display a certificate of their status. If you are still worried about the shop, go someplace else.

Be smart and use common sense. If you have a dirty job, wear loose protective clothing and do not touch your tattoo unless you have washed your hands. Dirty bedding is another problem. Put fresh sheets on your bed if you haven’t done so within a few days of getting your tattoo. Wear clean clothing. Use clean towels and washcloths.

Advices from Family & Friends –

When things go wrong people tend to panic. Tattoo healing problems are not an emergency.

If you think that you are having a reaction to your tattoo or the aftercare, the best thing to do is to go back to the tattoo shop where you got the tattoo. It is very important that you consult your artist.

After looking at the problem and asking a few basic questions they can tell what the issues are and help you over come them. Very few healing problems are unsolvable or require medication.

Do not go to your friends and family for advice. They do not have the training to help you. There is a lot of out of date tattoo folk lore going around. Everyone you talk to will have a different opinion and idea of what to do. This can be dangerous.

Advices from Other Tattoo Shops –

Do not go to another tattoo shop. Each artist uses the care instructions that they know will heal their work the best. This is usually different from one artist to another. What works well for one artist can mess up someone else’s work.

Another problem with going to a different shop is that tattoo shops are very competitive with each other and an unethical unprofessional tattooist will lie to persuade clients to switch artists. They will sometimes go so far as to give out bad advice to ensure the failure of the tattoo.

Do not call around, or look for advice on the internet. NO ONE can help you without seeing the tattoo first.

Your artist knows how you can save your tattoo if you deal with the situation right away. Do not rely on outside sources.

Do the right thing. Take care of your investment. You’re going to have it the rest of your life…

The whole point of self storage is to safely place your belongings in a secure location. It is used by families which have far too many material goods to fit in their home. Self storage is also convenient for families who are moving home and need somewhere to keep their belongings until they are ready to transport them. The traditional small self storage companies are in danger of being pushed out by large chains which have more centers, better facilities and offer better prices. The bottom line is that customers are looking for efficiency and security above friendliness which is why large self storage chains are enjoying record profits. Here are 5 of the best organizations in the business.

5: Sovran Self Storage

Sovran was founded in 1982 and has its headquarters in Buffalo, New York. It is a self-administered and self-managed Real Estate Investment Trust that has more than 1,000 employees. All of its stores carry the name Uncle Bob’s Self Storage. It is one of the largest chains in America with 350 facilities which covers 20 million square feet. It currently serves 160,000 customers in 24 states.

4: U Store It Trust

U Store It Trust was founded in 2004 and is another real estate company which is self managed. It is located in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with thousands of facilities spanning over 25 million square feet. The company recently announced plans to upgrade its facilities but warned that an increase in rent would follow.

3: U-Haul International Inc.

U-Haul International is another major self-storage and moving chain which was founded in 1945. It has a revenue of approximately $4 billion per annum and currently has 18,000 employees. It has the largest coverage of any organization in North America with over 1,000 facilities in all 50 states. Its brand is one of the most recognizable in the United States with the term ‘U-Haul’ used to describe the services of any rental company.

2: Extra Storage Space

Extra Storage Space is a self storage chain with its headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was founded in 1977 and has almost 700 facilities with more than 50 million square feet of storage space. Although it does not compare with some of its counterparts in terms of size, it has a reputation for providing the best security of any chain in the nation. The majority of their facilities have a manager on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

1: Public Storage Inc.

Public Storage has its headquarters in Glendale, California, and has been in the public storage business since 1972. At present, it has over 2,100 facilities in the United States with more than 135 million square feet to rent. It also has an interest in PS Business Parks which contains another 21 million square feet. It is one of the world’s largest self storage chains.

These five companies are considered to be among the very best in America when it comes to self storage chains. Smaller organizations will have a difficult time competing with the services offered by these companies, all of which are likely to expand in the near future.

Laser Hair Removal And Its Effect On Tattoos

Can you get laser hair removal, without effecting a tattoo? After being asked this question numerous times by friends, and family I sought to search out the answer. I asked a few laser hair technicians, and tattoo artist alike but none seemed to have the answer. If you are a technician, or tattoo artist I would suggest educating yourself on the effects of laser hair removal.

After rigorous research, I have found many cases of people who have had laser hair removal preformed. Most cases were caused by a slip up of the technicians preforming the laser hair removal “slipping”, or being careless. The results were often the same, a puss-filled blister covering the area that had been crossed by the laser. In some cases, infection was almost immediate , and had to be treated in the emergency room?

They have reported, that after the painful blister had healed, the tattoo was either considerably faded or disfigured. There are many problems that can arise from this, infection being the main concern. It can also cause significant scarring.

So, my only suggestion would to seek laser hair removal prior to getting your tattoos. If you do, indeed end up with scarring from your treatment you will need to check with your artist. Most artists will not tattoo over fresh scars, and depending on your own body’s healing it may take years for the scar to flatten enough before it is able to accept pigment.

If you are still considering getting laser hair removal around your tattoo, protecting yourself with knowledge is the key. Read the fine print in any contract you are requested to sign, if it includes anything to the nature of “not responsible for damaged tattoos” I would then search for another company. If laser hair removal goes wrong, it can not only damage your tattoo but cost you time, and possible thousands of dollars to repair.

Though, there is one option that you do have. Though it can be expensive, and tedious Electrolysis is the only proven hair removal method that will not have an adverse effect on your tattoo.

Wrought Iron Balusters Vs Wooden Balusters – A Comparison!

Whether its home decorating or home renovation – the first thing that comes to mind is stairways renovation. Stairways have to be secure else there is always a risk of accident. However, one cannot deny the fact that these stairways also make our home beautiful. So, what are the solutions- what type of balusters will fulfill both the needs? When thinking about this, two types of balusters come to mind- Wrought iron balusters and wooden balusters. I am sure, most of the people reading this must be having wood balusters at their homes. And if you are thinking of home renovation, then there is no better idea than a wrought iron baluster. Here we will compare these balusters with wooden balusters and will also come to know what advantages does iron has over the wood!

Durability- Iron is definitely durable than wood. Wood balusters get decayed over time. They are also susceptible to vermin and termites. Balusters made from wrought iron do not have all these problems. Once installed, they will be there for lifelong. Now comes the question of getting bored of seeing these balusters year after year. That also has a solution. Get them painted in your choice of color after a certain period of time. There is nothing against balusters made from wood if one can afford to change them over short period of times. If not, its better to get iron balusters installed at your stairways.

Ductility- Wrought iron is malleable and can be molded and given any shape. Thus, these balusters are more decorative than wooden balusters. Wood, as is known, can not be molded to give curvy or decorative shapes while the metal can be twisted into intricate and complicated designs. As a result, you have many options with wrought iron balusters and can let your imagination loose when decorating your home.

Easy Availability- Due to the changed interests of home dwellers and decorators, craftsmen are more inclined towards making balusters out of wrought iron. They are hesitant in experimenting with wooden baluster designs. As a result, these iron balusters are available in showrooms and even smaller shops in most of the cities and towns. They are available on Internet too and can be purchased online sitting right at your home.

As far as cost is concerned, it all depends upon the place where you stay and how much of this metal is dealt with there. Depending upon the quality of wrought iron and on the craftsmanship (the more detailed and intricate the designs, more will be cost), it can be both- cheaper or costlier than wooden balusters. You are now the sole authority to decide whether you need wrought iron balusters in place of your old wooden balusters or not?

Tattoo studios need to be fully equipped with the tools and materials to create a reputable name in the tattoo industry. It is important that these materials are maintained at its utmost cleanliness and sterility.

What do tattoo artists need to have?

Tattoo Machine

Also called Tattoo Guns. It is a handheld gun-shaped machine that is used to create the tattoo. The needle bar holds the needle and moves up and down to deliver the ink in your skin.

Thermal Copier

It allows the tattoo artist to copy the design unto a person’s skin. This will allow the artist and the subject to see how and what would the final tattoo look like.

Tattoo Needles

They can be round that is used to create lines or shades. Needles can also be flat that is used for shading. It is important that they are for single use.

Tattoo Inks

Tattoo inks are composed of two components: pigments and carrier. Pigments are those that provides color while carriers are liquids that dilutes the pigments and keeps it from clumping together. Also, it has a disinfecting action.

Tattoo Chair

This chair is made for the comfort of the subject and to provide efficiency of the artists work. This will make the subject feel relaxed on a steady position. Also, it can be modified to accommodate the subject comfortably in whatever position to properly expose the area where the tattoo will be placed.

Flash designs

These are illustrations of a design created by a tattoo artist normally explicitly displayed on the shop to attract customers and make them able to assess or judge the artists skills. It comes in two parts: stencil and the full flash. Stencils are border or basic outline of the drawing. On the contrary, full flash designs are complete with color and is basically how the final tattoo will appear.

Other paraphernalia’s include disposable razors to shave the area to be tattooed, disposable gloves, ink cups and holders.

Most importantly, the shop or the artist must have an autoclave machine to sterilize all reusable items.

How to Estimate the Weight of Your Household Goods For Moving

Go ahead and visit us and more information about our site, here:
moving company orlando fl We are the best movers in the Orlando area, and this article is presented by us. Hope to work with you soon! Give us a call today about moving and you won’t be disapointed!

Moving companies are often wrong when it comes to estimating the weight and value of your household goods shipment. Some estimators do a pretty good job, but there is such high turnover in the industry that you never know how experienced your estimator really is. If you make your contract decision based on price, you may be in for a big surprise when the driver hands you the final bill at your destination.

There are a few simple steps you can take to estimate the weight on your own. Following these steps will keep you in charge of the process and protect your rights in case you need to make a claim.

You want to start by sorting and inventorying your belongings. If this sounds like more work than you want to do, there are companies you can hire to inventory and value the contents of your home. No matter who does your inventory, you need to have an inventory done. Without it, you are at a disadvantage from the start. With it, you have a foundational document that can be used throughout your dealings with the moving companies.

Start by separating the valuable stuff from the ordinary stuff, the heavy stuff from the light stuff, and eliminate anything that the movers won’t be moving. As you go, simply list what you have. The list will help you determine the weight and value of your shipment. The best way to proceed is to start upstairs and work your way down, or start down then up if you prefer. Move around each room in a clockwise direction and write down everything you see. Write down items on the floor first, and then items on the wall, and then items in cabinets. Stay consistent from room to room so you don’t miss anything. Collections can be listed as collections, rather than individual pieces. When you are done with the house, inventory the shed and the garage in the same fashion.

You probably won’t take everything in your house. Items that won’t be moved fall into two categories: things you can’t take, and things you won’t want to take. The things you can’t take include anything that could explode, start a fire, rot, or give off toxic fumes. Such items cannot be transported or placed into storage. These are the items that are most troublesome to deal with. You can’t just throw them in the trash. Call your county department of the environment; they will tell you how to dispose of them. Have a plan for getting rid of these items. You don’t want to leave a bunch of hazardous waste in your house. Realtors frown on that. Makes the house harder to sell. Items you don’t want to take should be donated to charity, sold, or consigned to auction. Have the items picked up before you get your estimates. If it’s not in the house, it won’t contribute to an estimating mistake.

Once you know what you are going to move, there are three approaches to estimating the weight of your shipment. The first way is to take an educated guess. Add up the individual weights of the items on your inventory. For reference, I have provided a downloadable table of household weights on my website. If you are moving an item that is not on my list, find an item of similar heft and use the weight of that item. Remember, you are looking for a god estimate, not an exact number. Add up all the individual items for your total weight.

The second way to estimate the weight of your shipment is to take a wild guess. I’m not kidding; this method actually works. I’m told that the average shipment of household goods will weigh about 40 pounds per item. Remember that some items will be boxes of small goods. Total the number of items on your inventory (including boxes) and multiply by 40. If you have 150 items on your inventory, your weight will be somewhere in the 6,000 pound range. Not impressed with this method? That’s why I call it a wild guess. Still, if your wild guess came in at 6,000 pounds and your estimator gave you an estimate of 3,000 pounds, wouldn’t you want to know why?

The third way is illegal, so use it at your own risk. There are household goods weight calculators online. Most of them are on government owned websites, military and G.S.A.. They are supposed to be for authorized users. If you decide to use one, be sure to read the warnings and use good judgment. I only include this information here because I know that some of you will look online for your weights.

Beware if your estimator wants to give you an estimate based on cubic feet; i.e., how much space your shipment will take up in the truck. This is a useless number for billing purposes, since interstate carriers have to charge you based on weight and distance. Figuring cubic feet is useful, however, in determining whether you will be sharing a truck with another shipper, get a whole truck to yourself, or need two trucks. The chart on my website also lists the sizes of household items in cubic feet.

With your inventory done and your weight figured, the next thing you need to know is how to determine the value of your shipment for insurance purposes. That consideration will be the subject of my next article.

Penis Tattoos – 4 Risks That All Men Should Understand

While the idea of a penis tattoo may cause most men to physically cringe, there are some willing to brave the needle on their nether regions. While the process of a penile tattoo is no different than getting one on any other body part, there are potentially serious risks involved. So while it is always a good idea to “think before you ink,” this mantra may be especially true in this scenario. In any case, men considering a penis tattoo need to be aware of the risks and side effects, as well as the best penis care methods post-procedure.

Potential Risk of Penis Tattoos

Infection: As with any tattoo, there is a risk of infection. The actual process of tattooing involves a needle piercing the skin and injecting ink into the body. The risk for infection is, of course, exacerbated by unsanitary conditions and dirty equipment. Tattooing of any kind should always be done by a professional in a clean environment with new, sterile needles.

Skin Damage: A penis tattoo can easily lead to scarring of the delicate skin and underlying connective tissue. Think about the skin on the penis compared to, say, the arm, which is overlying a thick layer of muscle. The skin of the penis is much more fragile in nature and thus, more susceptible to scarring. Individuals who have a history of keloid scarring on other areas of their bodies – scars that are abnormally raised and spread beyond the site of the skin trauma – are well-advised not to get tattoos anywhere, especially on the penis. The act of tattooing is highly likely to cause the raised scar in those individuals, which is not something most men want on their penis.

Permanent Erection: Also known as priaprism, the condition is not as much fun as it may sound. Priaprism occurs when blood is physically unable to exit the penis, causing painful engorgement and potential nerve damage if left untreated. Documented cases of penis tattoos leading to this condition are thought to be caused by a needle penetrating the penis too deeply, creating a fistula in the penis. Not only is this a painful condition that interferes with ones sex life, it is one that likely needs surgical intervention to be treated. While not all penis tattoos lead to priaprism, it is a very real risk, particularly with a tattoo artist who is less experienced with tattooing that specific body part.

Nerve Damage: Even if a needle slip does not cause priaprism to develop, it may still lead to permanent nerve damage in the area. The penis is a veritable roadmap of nerve endings and, unfortunately, a minor slip of the wrist could leave the wearer of the tattoo with unpleasant nerve damage to go with it.

Post-Tattoo Penis Care

There are ways to prevent or reduce unpleasant side effects of a penis tattooing. Be sure to keep the entire area clean while it is healing and always maintain proper hygiene to reduce the risk of infection. Do keep a close eye out for signs of infection and seek medical attention if pain, bleeding, redness, or soreness persists beyond a reasonable period of time.

The success and safety of a tattoo originates with the tattoo artist one chooses, so be sure they are reputable and have an impeccably clean space that they are working in. Needles, of course, should never be reused in order to prevent the transmission of blood-born illnesses such as hepatitis and HIV/AIDS. It is also prudent to ask the artist if they have completed penile tattoos in the past, and ask to see photos of the work.

Once the penis has returned to its normal state, aside from the new artwork, men should use a penis health creme which contains vital nutrients, vitamins and minerals (most professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) as part of their daily penis care routine. A high-quality penis health creme may also reduce scarring of the area, decrease the chance of infection and help improve the health of the penis skin overall.

Moving Companies – Alternatives And Financing

Thus, choosing your moving company is something that can provide a great relief or further problems.

Resorting to a moving company is not the only action you can take. It all depends on the amount of things you have and the distance that separates one property from the other. You may be able to move most of your things by yourself or maybe all with the aid of some friends or family members. But take into consideration the fact that some furniture and appliances are fragile and should better be handled by professionals.

Costs And Alternatives

Hiring a moving company can be expensive. If you have to move especially delicate things like a piano for example, you may even have to hire the services of exclusive moving companies that will charge significantly higher amounts. You can shop around and compare prices but bear in mind that sometimes what is too cheap turns out expensive and the company will be transporting all your belongings which you surely consider valuable in more than one sense.

As explained above, the cost of hiring a moving company will vary according to the amount of things that you need to transport from one property to the other but mainly on the distance that separates both properties. If the type of things you need to move would allow you to transport them yourself provided that you had the transport means, hiring a moving company may not be your only possible solution.

It is also possible to rent a truck or a van where you can (with the aid of friends or relatives) carefully load all your belongings and transport them from your current residence to your new home. Bear in mind though, that you’ll need to fasten and secure everything so nothing gets damaged during the carrying. Using a proper cushion wrapping to reduce the risk of damage is an excellent idea.

Financing: The Simple Solution

Though moving companies can be expensive, you may decide that they are the best choice for you. If that’s the case, the good news is that you can obtain finance to move your belongings. Some moving companies will agree to provide several installments to finance the fees. Even if that’s not the case, you can still resort to other forms of financing in order to obtain the funds to pay the fees altogether.

You have mainly two alternatives: you can pay with credit card and use the ability to finance the balance on your credit card so you can pay as much as possible every month. Or (and this is my preferred solution), take a personal unsecured loan to pay for the whole fees and then repay the loan in the small resulting installments. This last alternative is probably the cheapest one because the interest rates on personal loans are considerably lower than the ones charged by credit card financing.

Tattoo Parlor Hours

If you have decided to get a tattoo one important thing that you need to be a ware of is the hours your tattoo parlor or studio is open. A majority of tattoo parlors open around Noon (12:00 PM) everyday and close anywhere from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM and most stay open until midnight Friday and Saturday. However most tattoo parlors close early on Sunday or may not be open at all. First thing is first drop by your desired tattoo parlor and learn the hours so you don’t drop in when they are not opened. Also don’t be a closer, a client that comes in 15 to 10 minutes before closing, tattoo artists really hate this. Also to be curious to the tattoo artist, don’t be waiting outside the door waiting for them to open the shop up. Give them some time to get in and get settled before you bombard them.

Another important piece of information to know is a vast majority of tattoo artist will let their repeat customers make an appointment so they don’t have to wait around. Ask your artist if they could do this for you as well. Also keep in mind that most tattoo parlors don’t have a huge waiting line so you don’t have to worry about that. The only time this could be a problem is if you are visiting a very popular tattoo parlor like Miami Ink, LA, Ink or Carey Hart’s tattoo or studio in Las Vegas Hart & Huntington or any tattoo parlor that celebrities like to hang out at and get inked.

Another good piece of information to know is that some tattoo artist charge by the hour and some charge by size, design, how much ink is being used or amount of detail the tattoo has. You just have to ask your particular artist to see which method they follow and always remember to tip your tattoo artist.

Tips to Choosing the Best Moving Company

Like within any industry, the household goods business has its share of rogue companies that have been known to prey on the general public. From denying claims, lost belongings and holding the consumer’s items for “ransom”, reports of abuse by moving companies happen all too often.

The majority of these consumer abuses occur by those movers who are operating under their own authority and are normally not associated with a major van line. These rogue movers will often work under their own generic “van line” name.

Forty million people move each year and the large majority are completed with customer satisfaction by both, van lines and independent movers. These movers also tend with the negative impact placed on them and the industry by the fraudulent companies that take advantage of the consumer.

The major cause for the consumer who gets caught in one of these moving scams often lies with choosing the cheapest priced mover. Economics is certainly understandable, but going with the cheapest price is usually a recipe for disaster. Extensive research and understanding how the moving industry operates, play key factors in choosing the best moving company for your relocation.

With May through October being the busiest time for movers, the peak moving season will soon be approaching and there are steps that consumers can take to increase their chances of obtaining a care-free move:

  • Never hire a moving broker
  • Make sure the moving company has been in business for at least 7-10 years
  • Visit their office to make sure they are who they say they are
  • Never accept an “estimate” over the phone
  • Make sure their trucks show the appropriate markings as required under federal law
  • Check them out with the Better Business Bureau (BBB)
  • Check their ICC number against the FMCSA records

These are just a few steps that consumers can take to validate a moving company’s reputation and record particularly when it comes to storing your household goods.

Most moving companies offer storage facilities should you have to store your items until your residence is ready for the move-in process. Moving companies holding the consumer’s belongings in storage for “ransom” have been documented and the FMCSA is now enforcing laws against these type of movers through the Map-21 Act.

Although these type of incidents do occur, it is most often done by independent movers not associated with a major van line. If you must place your belongings in storage, it is recommended to deal only with a major van line that is well-known; not with an independent moving company or a company which operates under its own “van lines” name.

Although many independents can be trusted, the key factor here is for you, the consumer, to have peace of mind. The greatest peace of mind you can have is to place your storage in a storage facility that you have complete control over such as a mini-storage facility.

By utilizing a self-storage facility, you and only you will hold the key and access rights to your belongings. If you are concerned with a possible “ransom” scam by movers, this would alleviate any fears of such an incident occurring.

Through research and investigation and fully understanding the household goods moving process, consumers can avoid becoming the next victim to moving fraud.

Facts and Care for White Ink Tattoos

Go ahead and take a look at us out here:
Tattoos We are an amazing tattoo shop here in Colorado Springs providing you with Best Quality in Design & service. Check us out today!

When you hear people talking about getting a white ink tattoo, they usually mean a design which is in all white ink with no other colours. These tats are typically more subtle than the blaringly loud designs you would get with black ink or coloured marks. A white ink tattoo will more often than not, look more like a scar/brand. It is a great way to get inked in a more private way. These marks are usually only really visible when you deliberately show it someone. It is the best of both worlds. You can have your very personal art, without getting any kind of negative attention at formal gatherings or at work.

Simplicity is key when it comes to white ink tattoos. Keep in mind that your tattoo artist will be working with ink which is a little bit trickier to see. Simplistic art has a solid shot at showing up more clearly than a complicated one. Trendy selections include shooting star tattoos, dragons, writing, key tattoos, Kanji symbols, hearts, and basic tribal patterns. These are so much easier to ink and way less likely to end up as a confusing and disappointing blur. All white tattoos will require to be inked over a few times to make sure the finished pattern is as noticeable as possible. Also, darker coloured skin tends to dampen the brightness of white ink.

With a typical tattoo, the design is usually stenciled in before shading begins. The outlines are done with a dark ink, usually black. This provides a very noticeable pattern the artist uses to keep on track. Tats without any dark ink tend to be a bit more blurred. It is more difficult to follow what you have inked when using only white ink. If a different coloured ink is used with the white, it can result in blended mess.

The ink used is completely different from base white inks which tint other colours. When used as the primary ink, you get a much thicker, top quality mixture which is created solely to stand out as much as it can.

White ink tattoos will lose a portion of their brightness and clarity if they are constantly in the sunshine. If you get this type of design, be sure to keep it out of the sun as much as possible. The easiest way to do this is to get inked in an area which you normally cover up. Your back or chest make for ideal areas. If you normally wear clothes with a bit more cover in the summer, you could also try using your shoulder or just below the ankle. (Keep in mind – any tattoo applied near a bone will hurt more than one that is put on muscle).

If a stencil is used on your white ink tattoo, the artist can either make the outline in your own blood or with purple dye. As a warning, your blood can sometimes tint the ink pink, and the purple can also mix. Your best bet is to have a pro do a simple design without a stencil. Ask your tattoo artist if he or she has much experience with white ink before you let them draw on your skin.

Sometimes people have some bad reactions to white ink. Reactions can also happen with black ink, but they are happen more often with white. Reactions include itching and swelling. In some cases the ink can also turn yellow if it mixes with sweat. As a prevention method, there is nothing wrong with asking for a small sample ink in the area you are aiming to have the full design. This way you be more confident that you will be left with a great tattoo instead of an ugly scar.

As with any ink, if you do not put in the effort to take special care of your new tattoo, you might end up with something that only barely resembles the art you wanted. Don’t scratch or touch the area. Always keep the gauze on for the minimum of 2 hours. Never ever cover up a new tattoo with plastic/saran wrap. Use only lukewarm water, mild liquid antibacterial soap, and your own hands to clean the area. Lightly dab with paper towel to dry it off. Do not put anything like sunscreen or Neosporin over the area. Lastly – take extra care to not let your new tattoo to get too much sunlight until it heals.

Just follow these steps and you will have the best chance of having a clear yet subtle design you can show of to your friends.

Key Points to Remember When Choosing Packers and Movers

Go ahead and check us and more information about our site, here:
moving company orlando fl We are the best movers in the Orlando area, and this article is presented by us. Hope to work with you soon! Give us a call today about moving and you won’t be disapointed!

Are you shifting to your new home next month? Many of you might need to move to some other city due to job change. A few days ago, my uncle had to shift his office to another place because of frequent theft in his old office area. The very idea of relocating to a new place makes us terrified. We fear how to organize and pack all our belongings on time for a hassle-free movement. Busy couples worry how to manage time and ask for leaves from their boss to pack stuffs. Office shifting or home shifting is not an easy task and requires you to spend a good amount of your precious time and energy. For many it is not their cup of tea to arrange all their valuable goods neatly and then packing them up.

You can cut all your worries and stress by looking for packers and movers operating in your area. These companies have experienced professionals working hard to shift all your belongings from your existing address to a new address. Every city has plenty of packers and movers companies to choose from. However, you should take a wise decision to save your money from getting wasted on a bad company. I have learned from a friend of mine about a company that damaged its customers’ valuable items. The company gave excuses and somehow managed to escape without even paying the money for the damage caused.

What you should look for when hiring packers and movers?

  1. You should not hire a company that is a startup. A novice company will hardly know how to move things properly. The staffs might damage your belongings when shifting the same. Therefore, a wise decision is to hire an experienced packer and mover company.
  2. Read the customer reviews before you hire a company to do your shifting work. If you find a company with too many negative reviews, you better avoid dealing with that company. My suggestion is to choose a company with many good or positive reviews. You can check for reviews on the company’s website and also on other online comment forums and platforms.
  3. Find out whether the company you select is willing to pay you money after an accident. It means if the company, while moving your goods, damage any item on road, then the company will pay you for the damage caused. In this way, you can keep your chosen company accountable for every action it does. Moreover, accidents can happen any time; so if any mishap happens, you can hold the company responsible for paying you compensation for misplacement or breaking of you valuable items.
  4. Talk to your friends and neighbors particular with those who recently shifted to a new place. They will help you get the best and most efficient packers and movers for a trouble-free movement.

Another very important thing to consider is the rate a company is charging from you. You should compare the prices charged by different relocation services offering companies in your area to pick up the most competitive one. Moreover, if you believe, moving your goods will take only 1-2 hours then talk to the company about whether they will charge for the day or for those 1-2 hours. You must hire a company that charges for only the hours they have worked.

How to Promote Your Tattoo Shop for Fall, Winter, and Holiday Deal Ideas

Tattoo Shop We are an awesome tattoo shop here in Colorado Springs providing you with Best Quality in Design & service. Check us out today!

As the year gets colder, it can sometimes be difficult to get customers through your door for new tattoos or piercing. People aren’t showing off as much skin as they would during bikini season.

Fall and winter however, are great seasons to promote your shop toward the holiday season and gift shoppers. There are multiple holidays and times when you can promote your shop, the same way that a store promotes their merchandise.

Below is a great list of potential promotions for cold weather months to bring customers through your door!

Gift Certificates & Merchandise

Every shop should have some merchandise, like a bumper sticker, tee shirt, or hoodie. These can be great gift ideas for eager shoppers. I would also suggest keeping wrapping paper or gift bags handy during the holiday season. Share these offers on your social media and website well before shopping season, which can be as early as October.

Gift Certificates are also a must have for the shopping season, and can also be handy year round for birthdays and life events. You can even create your own custom cards to hold gift certificates with some flash images.

Seasonal Promotions

1) Halloween

Halloween can be a big holiday for tattoos. It’s a way to permanently dress-up. Make some custom flash for Halloween, and offer a reduced price or do each for your shop minimum. Halloween tattoo specials should probably run the week before Halloween. Some flash images can include:

– Bats

– Wolfs

– Pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns

– Night Scenes and Spooky Trees

– Vampire Teeth

– Cat Eyes and Black Cats

2) Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is all about being thankful, and giving! This is a great holiday that can get you involved in your community. A great promotion idea for Thanksgiving is a food or coat donation. Food donations are usually the most popular around Thanksgiving, so that locals can get a great meal that they otherwise couldn’t afford.

Offer a discount to your customers that bring a food donation for your local food bank. Discounts can be a dollar or percent amount. Check with your local food bank to find out when you should have donations to them in time for Thanksgiving.

You can also add some seasonal tattoo flash for a discounted price as well, such as cookies, pumpkins, pumpkin pie, and turkeys.

3) Christmas (December)

Christmas and other December holidays are most likely going to be the biggest times for gift certificates and merchandise. You can also offer a discount when you buy a gift certificate for someone else.

4) New Years

New Years is often a huge party holiday. You can get involved with your community by sponsoring, or hosting a local New Years Eve party. You can open your shop earlier in the day and offer discounted New Years Flash, followed by an after-party in the evening.

Sponsoring a local party will also help get your name out there. Be sure to attend your sponsored event. This can also be a great location to hand out your cards, and possibly do some custom temporary paint tattoos for the New Years party you are sponsoring.

5) Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s is one of the more romantic times, but it can also be slow because it’s still pretty cold outside in most areas. This is another holiday that you can take advantage of holiday flash and discounted prices.

Some promotions could include 25% off all heart and dedication tattoos. It can also be a very reduced price for pre-made flash. Make a flash with hearts and banners, and offer them for $40 each on Valentine’s Day only.

If you would like a custom marketing plan for the cold season, contact me.

An Introduction to Tattoos

Go ahead and check us out here:
Tattoo Shop We are an amazing tattoo shop here in Colorado Springs providing you with Best Quality in Design & service. Check us out today!

Tattoos… Everyone has a different reaction to that word. It always got my attention. I think the first one I saw on a live person, was my cousins. I must have been 7 or 8 years old. He had a funny caricature of a devil on his arm with “born to raise hell” written over it. I was amazed by it and although it wasn’t until my mid 20’s when I christened my skin, I wanted one the second I saw that little devil.

Today, tattooing is far more accepted in society than it was back in the 60’s, still; there are people that frown upon the idea of marking your body with ink….forever. Whether it’s a religious issue, or their own personal preference, they can’t deny that the tattoo is almost as old as civilization itself.

The word tattoo is derived from the Tahitian word “tatu”, meaning to mark or to touch something. The earliest known tattooed person is the infamous “Iceman” found in 1991, in the Otzal Alps, located in Italy. Carbon dating proved that he had lived about 5,300 years ago. Fifty-eight tattoos were noted on his body!! Archaeologists think he was an important figure in his society. The tattoos were charcoal and water based.

Ancient cultures used tattoos to ward off sickness or bad luck. The Egyptians were the first to use needles to tattoo the body. Archaeologists exhuming tombs, have even found children’s dolls decorated with tattoos. Tattooing spread through Greece, and Arabia, and By 2000 BC., the tattoo had arrived in Asia.

The Japanese first used tattoos to identify criminals. Later it was transformed into an art form, producing some of the world’s most beautiful tattoos. The Yakuza (Japanese mafia) use their tattoos to intimidate their rivals. Japanese style of tattooing has influenced hundreds of artists today.

Polynesians have also contributed greatly to the art. Their instruments consist of sharpened pieces of bone, or ivory, tied to a stick. They “chisel” the ink into the skin by hitting the top of the instrument with a mallet type object. The tool might consist of one sharp object, or a whole row of objects, resembling a rake.

Members of certain tribes underwent grueling hours tattooing their bodies as a right of passage. Those tools are still used today, for those same rituals, but it is a dying art form, performed only by those preserving their culture. They also developed a facial tattoo called the “Moko”. This facial tattoo consisted of lines drawn about the face that would tell that persons life story.

Centuries ago in Europe, it was common to have family crests tattooed on the body, but when the Normans invaded in 1066, tattooing disappeared. 600 years later, a sailor named William Dempher, ran into Prince Giolo, known as the Painted Prince. He was brought from Polynesia to London, put on exhibition, and became a sensation.

In the 1700’s, on one of his many trips to the South Pacific, Captain Cook came across Oami,a heavily tattooed man, whom he also brought back to England. The English were amazed, and soon tattooing became a fad amongst the upper class. Still it would be another 100 years before tattooing would have an influence in America.

The first electric tattoo machine was invented by Samuel O’Rielly in 1891. It evolved from an electric pen that Thomas Edison had invented a few years earlier. This machine is very similar to the one used today. With this invention, it was very easy to obtain a tattoo, so the upper class gradually turned its back on the art, and by the 1900’s the glamour of being tattooed had lost its appeal. Tattoo artists found themselves working the seedy areas of neighborhoods, and tattooing went underground. Only by word of mouth could someone find a tattoo artist, or even see tattoo art. Tattooing became a secret society.

Once again, Samuel O’Rielly to the rescue. He moved from Boston to New York City and opened a tattoo shop in very popular Chatham Square, the Times Square of its day, and the birthplace of American style tattoos. There he met Charlie Wagner.

O’Rielly taught Wagner the art of tattoo until Sam’s death in 1908. Charlie then met Lew Alberts, a wallpaper designer. Alberts incorporated his designs into tattoo art, and started making flash designs. Tattooing flourished in Chatham Square for nearly 20 years, until the depression hit. The soul of tattooing then moved to Coney Island. Shops opened up wherever military bases seemed to be. Mostly sailors would get tattooed, and each tattoo brought a different story from a different place.

After the Second World War, tattoos were less popular. Their association with bikers, and jailbirds had a great impact on the decline of tattooing in American culture. An outbreak of hepatitis in the 1960’s brought tattooing to its knees. Needles weren’t being sterilized, and reports of blood poisoning flooded the newspapers. New York outlawed tattoos and shut down its shops in Coney Island. Tattooing moved to New Jersey, Philadelphia, and all the way to San Francisco.

Today, tattooing is legal again in New York, and just recently made legal in Massachusetts. Artists hold international conventions, where they display work, perform work, and give seminars on tattooing. Many have an art degree. Cleanliness is an unwritten rule in the business these days. Shops would not survive if the proprietors did not keep a clean place of business. Tattooing has once again reached the upper echelon of society. Movie stars, rock stars, and corporate executives now grace their bodies with tattoos. Every tattoo has a special meaning for the one who wears it. Whether it’s a tribute to a lover, or a child, mom or dad, a simple line or a detailed body suit, tattoos have made its mark in the history of the world.

The Forgotten Rooms When Staging Your Home For Sale – The Basement

In 1973 a film entitled “Don’t Look in the Basement” was released. It was originally entitled “The Forgotten” in reference to the ignored patients of an insane asylum, but someone thought it would attract more movie goers with a new title. After all, basements can be creepy.

Dark, dank and dirty is what usually comes to mind, never mind those hidden corners where something just might pop out!

Well, perhaps “The Forgotten” was an appropriate name after all, since basements are one of those areas in a home that is often overlooked when staging a home for sale.

Basements, whether finished or unfinished, add valuable square footage to the house.

Basements should receive as much attention as the rest of the house when it comes to the Must Do’s of staging:

  • Begin by decluttering. Discard, sell or donate any items you haven’t used in years. Basements tend to collect items we think we might use someday, such as old faucets, old appliances (left), toys, luggage pieces, etc. So ask yourself “will I ever really use this?”
  • Consider renting a storage space for items that you are keeping but won’t use or need in the next 6 months, especially if you are considering renting storage for unneeded furniture and items in the rest of the house. It may be worth it.
  • At the very least, buy moving boxes and begin packing. Or purchase plastic storage bins with covers as you can probably use them for storage in your new home. Stack the boxes or bins neatly, or even better, purchase metal shelving to stack them on.
  • The basement should be cleaned thoroughly. You want to remove the “yuk factor” when buyers view the space. Sweep and mop the floor, or vacuum the carpeting. Make sure you remove cobwebs and dead bugs from corners and along the ceiling.
  • Clean the windows and remove excess vegetation from outside the windows to let in as much light as possible. Open the curtains, if any.
  • Wipe down exercise equipment, ping pong table, and anything that has collected dust.
  • Install extra lighting, even if it’s a bare bulb and pullchord, in dark corners or areas.
  • Paint the floors of an unfinished basement (check with your paint store for the best product). It makes the room brighter and cleaner in appearance. And it doesn’t have to be the typical gray.
  • A fresh coat of paint on sheetrocked walls also goes a long way in making the space appear clean and as valuable as the upstairs space.
  • If your basement doesn’t have walls separating each room, it’s important to designate areas, each with a purpose. For example if you have exercise equipment or children’s toys scattered about, designate an area for each so that it appears that the basement has an exercise “room” and a children’s “playroom”.
  • If the washing machine and dryer is in the basement, set up this area as a laundry “room”. Make sure this area is sparkling clean, since no buyer wants to do laundry in a dirty area. Set up an ironing board and iron and/or a table to fold clothes. Store laundry supplies neatly on shelves or in a cabinet.

The same goes for other areas in a basement: home office, media room, workspace, arts and crafts space. Make sure each area is clearly designated.

Buyers expect the basement to be dark and dirty. Why not surprise them with a clean, bright, organized and neat space? The buyers will also perceive that you are the type of homeowner that takes care of things and doesn’t neglect the ongoing maintenance of the house.

Basements are one of the often overlooked spaces when staging a home for sale. Since basements add extra square footage to the house, it’s important that they look their best to potential buyers. Here are some things you can do to get them in “show ready” condition.

Australian Actor Paul Ashton on His New Film, "Serial Buddies" and His Move to Hollywood

Go ahead and check us and more information about our site, here:
movers orlando fl We are the best movers in the Orlando area, and this article is presented by us. Hope to work with you soon! Give us a call today about moving and you won’t be disapointed!

Australian actor Paul Ashton recently wrapped shooting the feature film “Serial Buddies,” an indie comedy labeled as “the first serial killer-buddy film of all time,” produced by Maria Menounos and directed by Keven Undergaro. In it he plays one of the two starring roles, and performed opposite the likes of Christopher Lloyd, Christopher McDonald and David Proval. It was an experience and opportunity that seems a far cry from Wagga Wagga, the small town in Australia where Paul grew up.

Ashton started acting at the young age of seven performing with Louise Blackett’s Theatre Workshop. It was simply a natural inclination at the time, and he had no idea of the huge role acting would play in his life in the future.

He hails from a creative lot – though his parents are both in medicine (one orthodox, one alternative – a lively combination he assures me) his three siblings are all artists too. One of his sisters, Alexa Ashton, is also a successful actor. She starred in ‘Home and Away’ and like Paul has worked for the prestigious Bell Shakespeare Company .

In asking him about his family’s thoughts on his career choice, Ashton was quick to state: “My family is extremely supportive. I think my Dad would’ve preferred it if I’d finished my law degree before heading to drama school, but never once have my parents tried to stop me from doing what I love to do. They’ve been there supporting and providing 100% and are proud of the paths we’ve all chosen.”

After his family moved to Canberra when he was 12 years old, Ashton saw a school production of ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead’ by Tom Stoppard. It galvanized his love for performing on stage, and shortly after he saw the first ever Bell Shakespeare Company production – it was ‘Hamlet’ – and he knew this was what he was destined to do.

EARLY INFLUENCES

In speaking of early influences, Paul notes Rob Sitch, the Australian actor/director who was part of “The Late Show” and who with his colleagues, went on to produce some of Australia’s best-loved films, most notably “The Castle.”

Other early influences included Baz Lurhmann, Kenneth Branagh, Anthony Hopkins, John Cleese, Mike Myers, Jim Carrey, Michael Winterbottom, Ben Kingsley and Kate Winslet. He trained at VCA Drama School in Melbourne, where teachers such as Lindy Davies, Tanya Gerstle and Leisa Shelton, and directors Peter Evans and Brian Lipson also had a big impact on him during those formative years.

But he sites John Bell – who created the renowned Bell Shakespeare Company – as making a particularly large impression on him. Paul recalls: “Watching their productions every year in Canberra, and meeting him and some of the other actors as a teenager was really inspiring for me. I was a drama nerd in its purest form – I used to get their autographs. It was a dream of mine to work for them.”

In a true career defining moment, John Bell came and watched Ashton play Orlando in As You Like It in his final year of drama school (Paul had written a letter inviting him to come along, and was shocked when he received a call from Bell’s assistant confirming the dates). He worked for Bell’s company a year later – a dream come true.

Earlier that same year, Paul had been cast as the role of Ben on the award winning Australian show “The Secret Life of Us.”

It would be four years of living and working in Sydney before Hollywood called. During this time, Ashton also was the frontman for popular local indie rock act, Minder.

He reflects back to that time, “I made the move to Los Angeles, like so many other of my compatriots because it is the centre of the global entertainment industry and provides the most diverse range of opportunities possible. That diversity appeals to me, and I think is a better fit for me as an actor.”

In a sit-down interview at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Ashton shared his thoughts with me about his new life in the mecca of the entertainment business.

SIT DOWN:

Bobbi -Q: Paul, what is one of the main differences between being an actor in Los Angeles versus Australia?

Paul -A: Undoubtedly the first thing you discover when you arrive is the scale of it. The sheer size of the city itself is a good indicator, there are just so many people and it’s so competitive. It can be hard to know where to start. You go from knowing most people in the industry and most people knowing you, to knowing no one and in a way, starting again.

But there’s a real sense of possibility and that anyone’s got a shot. There’s a ‘yes’ attitude that underpins much of the American psyche, and I really respond to that.

Bobbi- Q: How did you get the role in “Serial Buddies?”

Paul- A: I got the role by auditioning. Casting Director Jen Cooper had seen some of my work last year and she called me in to read for the role. At first they didn’t think I was right for Gregory, but fortunately I won them over.

Bobbi -Q: Was the character easy to play for you?

Paul -A: There were certain parts of Gregory I had to work very hard on – he has a very dark past and was damaged from years of abuse and neglect.

But his flamboyance and physicality were a huge amount of fun to take on, and in that sense, came more easily. But he was demanding at all times and I had to stretch as an actor to get there.

Bobbi-Q: What acting technique do you use? Are there elements that are essential to success?

Paul-A: I don’t work with any specific technique. Certainly my training had a big influence on how I approach my work, and over the years I have adapted the principles I learned into more of my own thing.

Elements that I think are essential? Nothing new – research and script analysis, using the imagination and understanding the point of view of your character. And then, most importantly playing the moment.

Bobbi-Q: What was it like working with the cast of “Serial Buddies?”

Paul-A: I felt extremely privileged to work with a long list of well established and very talented actors.

We had core group of guys that were a joy to spend time with on set. The other 3 guys all have comedy and improv backgrounds, so there were always plenty of laughs, with lots of innovation and creativity when the cameras were rolling.

To work with an iconic actor like Christopher Lloyd. Playing my dad! It was wild, and a career highlight for sure. He was a gentleman and a joy to work with. And Chris McDonald too? No way. Comic genius right there. We had a lot of fun doing our scene together.

And to top it off – to have Hal Rudnick as Gary, to my Gregory-perfect.

Bobbi-Q: What characters or roles do you want to see yourself playing?

Paul-A: I love both comedy and drama, and never want to restrict myself to just one genre or form.

Bobbi-Q: What are you currently doing?

Paul-A: I’m currently in post-production with a short film I made before I shot “Serial Buddies.” It’s called “Champion” and I’m planning on entering it into Tropfest in Australia early next year. It was a script I wrote, directed and produced.

Other than that, auditioning and entertaining lots of friends from Australia!

Bobbi-Q: What is your goal for this upcoming year?

Paul-A: To continue to challenge myself to be better. Of course, I’d love to see ” Serial Buddies” make the submission deadline for Sundance and then of course get in – though that’s now out of my hands. That would make it a good year straight up. And I want to start working on my next self-devised project. I’m just not sure what it’s going to be yet.

Bobbi-Q: How do you have fun and relax?

Paul-A: Spending time with friends, going to the movies, exercising, playing music, yoga, and when I can- skiing.

Bobbi -Q: Are you married, single, or dating?

Paul-A: Single, but open to meeting someone.

Bobbi -Q: What city did you live in before here?

Paul-A: I lived in Sydney before I moved here, but my family is based in Canberra, so that’s home really. Mum and Dad have a beautiful house there, big garden out the back, and the place is full of amazing organic and biodynamic food and life-affirming healthy things. My mum is an alternative medicine practitioner, and Dad’s a doctor, so it’s always interesting.

Bobbi -Q: Tell us about your music.

Paul-A: I played music since I was 5. I started on the piano, and then later also played the Viola and guitar. I played in my school orchestras and sang in my school choirs, Music’s just always been there as something I did. But it wasn’t till I taught myself the guitar at the age of 18 that I started writing and playing on my own a bit. Before moving to LA I actually was part of an indie rock band in Sydney. I’d written a bunch of songs over a few years and a mate suggested we start a band together so we did.

I’m actually playing my first gig in LA in a month’s time. Just some low key acoustic originals. Should be fun.

Bobbi -Q: What ‘original music’ are you providing for the film “Serial Buddies?”

Paul-A: There’s a song in the film that Gregory sings to his father. I was trying to come up with a tune for it – so I knew what I was doing when we shot it. It developed into a little more than what was on the page. I liked the sound of it, so recorded and sent it to Keven. He loved it and so we arranged and recorded it with genius musician, Giulio Carmassi. It should appear in the film now, which is great.

Bobbi-Q: Tell me about these YouTube video blogs you posted while filming “Serial Buddies”. That was original, why did you do it?

Paul-A: They were just a way to document/blog about the time on set so that there was a fun record of it, and so that anyone , including my friends and family, could have a peak behind the scenes. And to try and get the name of the film out there a bit. With indie films, every little bit helps.

Bobbi -Q: Do you have any special thanks to give anyone in your life?

Paul-A: Where do I start? First and foremost my parents. They’re the most generous and unconditionally supportive people I know. Even outside of looking after our family. And my siblings too – just wonderful people who’ve helped shape who I am. I also have an extraordinary group of friends stretching right back to my early days in Wagga Wagga. They know who they are, and we’re still in touch regularly, and they’ve always believed in me and that’s a rare feeling.

Oh, and of course, Steven Waugh – the greatest Australian cricket captain of all time. The ultimate inspiration of my life.

Paul Ashton lives in Los Angeles, CA and is a writer, director, actor, musician and stage performer.

He is managed by Prodigy Talent Group.

5 Signs You Are in the Wrong Tattoo Shop

1. Smells Bad – Tattoo shops should smell like cleaning products and sterile air, if you walked into tattoo shop and have been greeted by a big puff of smoke, or other foul odor you may be in the wrong place. The owners of the tattoo shop and the artist not caring about how the shop smells is a good indicator that the level of sterilization may be low.

2. Animals – At some parlors the owner will have a snake cage set up or a dog running around. This is a violation of most states health codes and either way is a disgusting situation always avoid any tattoo shop where animals are present. Beside the smell the presence of animals compromises any sterile zone the artist may have set up.

3. Dirty Employees – Employees of tattoo shops should be clean wearing not only sterile gloves and using sterile equipment. But there personal hygiene should also be high. If the tattoo artist you have chosen is dirty, has ink or other stains on there clothes, you may want to leave. If the artist is not keeping his own person clean his working area is probably in similar disarray.

4. Foul Bathroom – Check out the bathroom in the tattoo shop you plan to go to in advance. Does it look and smell clean? The look of the bathroom will give you an idea of the level of cleanliness in the business. If the employees take a nonchalant attitude to the bathrooms cleanliness they may also be nonchalant in the cleaning of there personal stations.

5. “Sorry We Are Out Of…Ink” – Nothing says you are in the wrong shop like “sorry we are out of ink”. Maybe its black ink or red or green, but the question is the same how can a tattoo shop run out of anything, much less tattoo ink. It happens all the time, it is usually the sign of a tattoo artist who does not want to do the work. But even if the shop is really out of a particular color of tattoo ink it is still a good sign you are in the wrong shop.

Permanent Vs Temporary Tattoos – Which Is Best For You?

The tattoo trend is still very much in fashion these days. While a few individuals want to ink their body permanently, others think having the same tattoo on their body for whatever remains of the life is never a sensible choice, so they rather go for temporary ones. In specialized terms, tattooing is a sort of pigment implantation process.

In general, there are two methods of this pigment implantation:

  • Permanent: Needless to say, these kinds of body art are permanent in nature. Sure with aging, they slowly fade, but they will never be entirely gone unless you conduct any treatments. Laser treatment is an option that you can use to remove these pigments from your skin. But the pain associated with this process is excruciating in addition to being extremely expensive. More often than not, the cost of removing these pigments far exceeds the cost of applying them. So it’s important to think it through before applying them.
  • Temporary: This kind is anything but its permanent counterparts. The pigment is applied only to the outer layers of the skin so that only the epidermis gets colored. But as you lose your skin cells, they will slowly fade away. Usually, these pigments last for 1-2 weeks, but it can be even less if you use hot water and detergent more often.

There are lots of differences between permanent and temporary tattoos, some of which are:

  • After-effects: When it comes to temporary ones, there is no harm caused unless you are allergic to paints. After a couple of weeks, you can just wash it off completely. When after you put permanent pigments over your skin, it will take the time to heal; at least three weeks to be precise. During this period, you can’t even pour water over the design.
  • Pain: Pain of any kind isn’t experienced in case of impermanent ones because only paints, brushes and stickers are used. But you do need to have a high pain threshold in case you are looking to ink your body permanently. Sure the amount of pain caused by this process will depend on how much you can bear.
  • Blood: There is no chance of any blood dripping out of your skin in case of impermanent pigment implantations. But you do see a little bit of blood when it comes to their counterparts. But that’s nothing to be squirm about.
  • Cost: Getting permanently inked is a costly affair and might set you back several dollars. But it also depends on the size and design of the body art you are getting. Big, colorful ones will generally cost much more than others.
